CBS Interactive is looking for a highly-motivated graduate student to join our CBSsports.com Fantasy development team. We are looking for someone with a passion for sports and a keen attention to detail/organization. We are looking for engineers who are strong with JavaScript and familiar with React.js, however, we are seeking the best and brightest engineers to work alongside a small team and make a strong impact, regardless of their experience.
The intern will support the engineering team in day-to-day operations including, but not limited to:
- Collaborate with team members to build pixel perfect interactive features
- Develop web applications integrated with Restful APIs to meet project requirements
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies
- Develop modern web products consistent with product requirement specifications, utilizing React.js
- Build React pages for Fantasy
Logistics
- Time commitment: part-time, 20 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team
- This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
Qualifications:
You are:
- A self-starter who works well with others in a team-centric environment and is actively pursuing a career in the software industry
- Proactive, organized, detail-oriented and able to follow detailed instructions
- Passionate about sports and digital media
You have:
- A winning attitude and mad coding skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with web technologies (HTML/CSS)
- Familiar with React.js
- Debugging and problem-solving skills
- Strong desire to learn new technologies and techniques
- Currently working towards a graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related software engineering field
Experience with the following technologies a plus but not required:
- React.js, Vue.js, Angular or any JavaScript framework
- TypeScript
- Restful APIs
- Git
- AWS
Additional requirements:
- Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Must be at least 18 years old
